BAMS-Mazovia

The main goal of the BAMS-Mazovia (Build-up Areas Monitoring Service for Mazovia) project is to develop a service platform that would provide reliable information on changes occuring within built-up areas. The service will be based on Sentinel-2 imagery and the required information shall be provided in a fully automatic way using image classification algorithms. The required high level of details will be assured by application of multi-temporal observations from Sentinel-2 constellation and utilization of dedicated classification workflow developed in CBK PAN.
The developed platform will be used to compare the results of image classification with existing databases such as, for example the Database of Topographic Objects (Baza Danych Obiektów Topograficznych) – BDOT, for automatic identification of areas of potential changes. Such workflow aims at accelerating the process of updating existing databases and reduction of maintaining cost.
The project study area is the Mazovia Province – the largest and most populated of the Polish provinces. Despite that, the ambition of the project is to prepare methodology and tools that could be easily applied in other provinces of Poland.
The project is being realized by a consortium consisting of GEOSYSTEMS Polska Sp. z o.o. (project leader) and Department of Earth Observation of Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN) (research partner).

Project duration: September 18, 2018 – September 18, 2020
