PEARL (Port Environmental Information Collector) is a European Commission research project that main aim will be the creation of a platform for the management of the area of ports which will use satellite, aerial and in situ data. In contrast to previous EU projects that concentrated on the scientific aspects of monitoring the port area, Pearl will focus on the needs of users depending on the geographical situation of the port. The novelty of this project is its versatility (uniting scientific research with the practical usage in porting activity) and the synergy between various satellite data.
Project duration: January 2006 – December 2008
